Coronavirus deaths and infections across Bristol and its neighbouring areas remain high, the latest figures show.
A further eight fatalities were confirmed today - three in Bristol, three in North Somerset and two in Bath and North East Somerset.
The Department of Health's data also shows infections increased by 270 on Thursday - a jump from yesterday's 163 and Tuesday's 219.
Bristol reported the biggest rise with 140 new cases. Our city's Covid rate per 100,000 people now stands at 184.7 - slightly below the national average of 194.6.
South Gloucestershire confirmed the second-highest increase of 80.
Surge testing has been taking place in both these areas since the start of this week. More than 15,000 swabs have now been taken as new sites continue to open.

UK figures
The UK's coronavirus death toll has increased by 678 in the last 24 hours and infections are up by 13,494.
The figure is down from last Thursday when there were 915 death and a further 20,634 new cases, and represents a drop of 28.6 per cent compared to the previous seven days.
New figures today show that the number of people in England testing positive for the virus has dropped by 24 per cent in a week.
Positive cases have been falling for weeks - with the latest total hitting the lowest point since December 9.
