Bristol records biggest daily increase in 10 weeks

A further 19 coronavirus cases were reported in Bristol over the past 24 hours - the biggest daily rise in 10 weeks.

According to the latest Government figures (September 11), our city's total now stands at 1,625.

The last time Bristol's daily numbers surpassed 19 was on July 3, when 547 were recorded as ministers updated how cases were reported.

While UK-wide figures soared by 3,539 - the highest rise for four months.

North Somerset recorded a jump of ten, bringing the district's total to 1,020.

In South Gloucestershire, five more cases were confirmed, which now has 889.

And Bath and North East Somerset recorded an increase of eight, the total there is 455.

Covid deaths

Neither of Bristol's hospital trusts have recorded a new death over the past 24 hours, where deaths remain at 271.

Southmead Hospital reported a coronavirus-related death on Tuesday August 25, which was the first in the city for two months.

Nationally, six further Covid-related deaths were recorded, bringing the UK's total to 41,614.
