Bristol pubs up for let including boozers in Downend and Stapleton

The Bristol hospitality scene has been far from stable over the last couple of years. Since the Coronavirus pandemic rocked the world, social distancing, the fraught economy and the cost of living crisis has meant that many hospitality businesses across Bristol have been forced to close.

We've said goodbye to some iconic Bristol venues this year, as restaurants and bars have been forced to close their doors - even if they found fame in legendary TV shows such as Only Fools and Horses. Now, there are many up for let and on the market in the hopes a new owner will come and run the show.

There are currently five pubs in Bristol to let. From Stapleton to Downend, here are the pubs on the market this month:

Old Tavern
Blackberry Hill, Stapleton

UWE's Glenside Campus (Bristol Live)

Very close to UWE Bristol's Glenside Campus and in the prime range of many student punters, The Old Tavern at the top of Blackberry Hill is the only pub in the area. Housed in a property first built in the 18th century, it's a historic pub with charming features.

The pub is currently permanently closed. It is in need of some redecoration, but offers a lot of opportunity as a Grade II listed property.

White Horse Inn
Northwick Road, Pilning

Outside of central Bristol, this substantial BS35 pub in Pilning village offers up an extensive outside area for beer garden opportunities. In an idyllic setting away from the hustle and bustle of Bristol city centre, it's definitely a country pub.

Known for its cask ales and local food, the building offers plenty of heritage for a new owner. Recently ran by a local family, the pub lies at the heart of the community in Pilning.

Currently rated 3.5 stars on TripAdvisor, the White Horse Inn offers an opportunity for a new owner to breathe new life into the venue. It's been described by many as a 'pleasant country pub'.

Downend Tavern
125 Downend Road, Fishponds

Located in the popular residential suburb of Downend, The Downend Tavern has been run as a local community pub with traditional values. Currently permanently closed, this is an opportunity for a new owner to revive a pub at the heart of a community.

In 2020, The Sunday Times named Downend as one of the UK's best suburbs. Located on the busy Downend Road, plenty of footfall hits, so customers are attracted naturally to the pub - and it was known for its award-winning ales.

There is an attractive fireplace near the ground floor bar, and the pub is set across two floors. Downend is a popular area to live, with families and young professionals choosing this suburb as home.

Rudleigh Inn
Martcombe Road, Easton in Gordano

This BS20 pub is attractively placed in a village near Bristol. It has a large beer garden overlooking Easton in Gordano's cricket ground.

Inside, the real standout is the exposed brick fireplaces which provide plenty of charm and character. There is also a carvery unit at the property, offering a lucrative opportunity for a regular Sunday roast.

Punters are used to spending a lazy afternoon watching the cricket from the pub benches. The pub is currently well presented.

The Anchor
60 Ham Green, Pill

The Anchor at Ham Green near Bristol has been put on the market (Fleurets)

Pill is a popular village close to Bristol. The Anchor is a large 125 cover bar and restaurant, offering plenty of opportunity for a new owner.

There are external trade areas at this venue, too. The ground floor trade areas have been refurbished in recent years.

It offers plenty of potential for somebody who wants to run a destination pub with food. The venue has been well supported by the local community over the years.
