Bristol pub cordoned off as forensic officers investigate attack

A man has been taken to hospital following an assault in Bristol.

The disturbance took place outside the Three Blackbirds pub on Stapleton Road in the early hours of this morning (May 18).

After the incident the man, aged 19, was taken to hospital with hand and chest injuries and bruising to his head - although his injuries are not believed to be life changing.

Blood can be seen splattered on the wall of the pub and on the pavement in front of it.

Forensic officers have been seen investigating the site and taking pictures.

A cordon remains in place around the pub at time of writing.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We are investigating a disturbance during the early hours of this morning in Bristol, which led to a man being assaulted.

"The incident happened outside The Three Blackbirds public house in Stapleton Road around 2am.

"A 19-year-old man received hand and chest injuries and bruising to his head.

"He was taken to hospital, where his injuries are not believed to life changing or life threatening.

Head received death threats from parents over same-sex relationship lessons 

"Police enquiries into the incident are continuing. We have police patrols in the area providing reassurance and to receive information."

The spokesperson continued that police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information.
