Bristol post-punk group IDLES pay tribute to Liverpool band Her's killed in car crash during US tour

Bristol's IDLES have paid tribute to Liverpool band Her's who were killed in a crash while touring the United States.

The musical duo, Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laadig, were travelling to a gig in Santa Ana, California on Wednesday (March 27) when they were involved in a fatal crash.

Their tour manager, Trevor Engelbrektson, was also killed in the accident, which happened as the band were driving to their penultimate gig of their US tour, according to the Daily Mirror.

Bristol's post-punk band IDLES said they were "absolutely gutted and heartbroken" by the news on Twitter.

"Our thoughts go out to their family and loved ones at this time," the post read.

"They were truly wonderful people that always bought a smile to our faces whenever we ran into them.

"Shocked is an understatement."

The band’s label Heist Or Hit said on Facebook: "We are all heartbroken. Their energy, vibrancy and talent came to define our label.

"As humans, they were warm, gentle and hilarious. Each time they stopped by the office made for an uplifting experience.

"To say they were close would be an underestimation of a friendship that was genuinely beautiful to witness; they loved one another like brothers.

"Musically, Her’s were astonishing. An aptitude for melody, fun, and entertainment combined with a complexity that was as sophisticated as it was stylish."

Stephen and Auden met at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and released released their first album in 2012 entitled Songs of Her's.
