Bristol Old Vic cancels Robin Hood show due to coronavirus

The Bristol Old Vic has been forced to cancel a show today due to Covid.

A message shared to the Theatre group's 53,000 Twitter followers at around 12 pm stated that customers will be contacted with regards to the cancelled performance of Robin Hood.

The post reads: "Today's 2 pm matinee of Robin Hood has just been cancelled due to COVID. We are so sorry to everyone for the disappointment.

"Our team will be in touch with all bookers to run through the options asap. An email will be coming shortly."

The hugely popular show was set to be performed by the multi-award-winning company, The Wardrobe Ensemble.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: "We had to cancel two shows on Saturday, December 11 but have thankfully been able to perform across the rest of the run due to the brilliant cast and crew who have been covering any illness.

"Sadly, we’re unable to cover the cast members affected today but aim to be back up and running for the next show on Tue 4 Jan.

"Audiences have been incredibly understanding, supportive and kind throughout the last 18month of uncertainty and they’re the reason live theatre has managed to keep going, either in-person or with online shows.

"We’re desperately sorry to let the audience down, cancelling a show is the last possible option for any theatre and we know how disappointing this is.

"Our box office team is contacting bookers now to move anyone who would like to come on a different show, or offer a credit on their account or a refund if preferred."
