Bristol offices are the best work places in the South of England and Wales

Two Bristol offices have been named among the best work places in the South of England and South Wales.

The office of tea company Pukka Herbs, which is based in Keynsham, and the workspace of architecture and design practice Stride Treglown, were on the list of British Council for Offices' (BCO) “excellent” developments.

The BCO recognises the highest-quality offices in the UK and sets the standard in the regional and national office sector.

Pukka Herbs’ Herb House was awarded the Fit-Out Award after its designers successfully incorporated the company's focus on the ethical and sustainable use of nature into its work space.

Meanwhile, Promenade House, where Stride Treglown is based, was awarded the Best Project up to 1,500sqm Award for its refurbishment of the Grade II listed building.

The judges were impressed with the way the building’s periodic features have been incorporated with its modern interiors.

Alistair Allison, BCO South of England and South Wales judging chair, said: “Pukka Herbs has achieved a unique opportunity by combining the ethos of the company into the office space they occupy, and this made them a worthy winner.

“They have created a fantastic place to work and have addressed every area from design to biophilia and succeeded in all areas.

“The bold and winning interior design of Promenade House reveals the secrets of age with contemporary lighting, colours and a minimal palette of materials, offset against creaky stairs, unrepaired historic mouldings, and a tricky low ceiling height rear extension.”

Andy Heath, partner at commercial property company Cushman & Wakefield and BCO South of England and South Wales regional committee chair, added: "We have been especially impressed with the work of the designers for both workplaces."

The ceremony marked the eleventh year of the BCO Regional Property Awards for the South of England and South Wales.

The winners will now compete with those from other regions at the BCO National Awards in October.
