Bristol music venue urges gig-goers to continue wearing masks

A Bristol music venue has urged gig-goers to continue wearing masks, despite the lifting of government-enforced coronavirus rules regarding mask-wearing.

Rough Trade, a record shop and venue on Nelson Street, has started hosting small gigs again over the past few weeks.

However, the venue has released a statement "reminding" its customers that it would "really appreciate" continued mask-wearing.

The statement reads: "We've had a blast over the last few weeks having shows back!

"As fun as it's been being back at it, we would like to remind everyone that we would really appreciate it if you would continue to wear masks at our venue.

"We understand that we can all get carried away with the world opening up again, it's exciting to be seeing bands and seeing mates, but we would still like to uphold a safe covid standard for us and our customers.

"We would hate for people to not feel safe, or feel like they can't wear a mask."

The statement adds: "So please, if you're visiting us for a show and you are not exempt, please wear a mask and remember to sanitize your hands.

"As always stay safe and we hope to see you soon!"

The reminder has been widely applauded by fans of the venue.

One person said: "Thanks for mentioning this for those who don't feel confident enough to challenge someone."
