With the Bristol Mayoral election less than a month away, bookmakers have started to take bets on who will be the next mayor of the city.
On Thursday, May 6, voters will get to choose the individual who will run the city for the next three years in Bristol's third ever election for city mayor.
On the same day, the city will also decide what the make-up of the council chamber will look like as the 34 wards across Bristol head to the polls to elect the city's 70 councillors.
And, when looking at Ladbrokes, it seems the bookmaker is expecting Marvin Rees for the Labour party to keep his post - as of April 13, the odds have him as the 1/12 favourite to win.
He is followed by Sandy Hore-Ruthven for the Green Party, who has come in at 8/1 to win the election.
On Sunday Ladbrokes tweeted: “Odds of a shock Green win in the Bristol Mayoral election in from 50/1 to 10/1”.
You can find out more about the Bristol Mayoral election here, but below are the odds for the other candidates at present:
- Alastair Watson (Conservative): 25/1
- Caroline Gooch (Lib Dem): 66/1
- Sean Donnelly (Ind): 100/1
- Robert Clarke (Reform UK): 200/1
- Tom Baldwin (TUSC): 200/1
- John Langley (Ind): 500/1
- Oska Shaw (Ind): 500/1
Ladbrokes explained on Twitter that the odds will change depending on how much money they take on the various candidates.
Local and mayoral elections were due to take place last May, but they were postponed at the beginning of the covid crisis last March because of the threat posed by the virus.

The Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and the Combined Authority Mayor for the West of England (WECA) elections are also on the same day - meaning we will be voting on four elections on May 6.
