Bristol man was 'stupidly and naively' drug dealing to his mates

An Easton man who admitted dealing drugs to a "small social circle" has been spared immediate custody

Police found Aaron Bentley-Morrison with cocaine, MDMA and cannabis in Bristol city centre.

His phone was analysed and he was found to have been selling but not marketing the substances.

Bentley-Morrison, 26, of Rose Green, Greenbank Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply MDMA and cannabis, as well as possessing cocaine, in August 2019.

Judge Michael Longman handed him a two year jail sentence suspended for two years.

He told Bentley-Morrison: "You behaved very stupidly when you were dealing drugs and you had them in your possession with intent to supply to others. I accept that it was out of character."

The judge ordered him to carry out 180 hours' unpaid work and rehabilitation. Drugs and a small amount of cash seized in the case were forfeited.

Ian Kelcey, defending, told Bristol Crown Court the offences arose out of his client's naivety.

Mr Kelcey said: "He wanted to be accepted. He wanted to try and prove himself to his peers, stupidly and naively.

"He has shown true remorse. Prison would have a negative approach.

"He would get no assistance in prison, with coronavirus, and no rehabilitation.

"He does have a future, he is not a risk to the public and he has learned his lesson."
