A Hengrove man has admitted fraud on a foundation he set up to help families of children with disabilities and serious illnesses.
Scott Wright appeared with his partner Melissa Wright before Bristol Crown Court today (Tuesday, May 25).
Scott Wright, 45, of Leda Avenue, pleaded guilty to, between May 1, 2012 and October 9, 2018, abusing his position as a trustee to cause a loss to the Darren Wright Foundation by using the foundation's bank account to credit his personal bank account.
An exact loss is yet to be finalised, the court heard.
The same charge against Melissa Wright, 34, of the same address, was left to lie on file not to be proceeded with unless resurrected by the Court of Appeal Criminal Division.
The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC handed Scott Wright bail, pending a probation report for sentence on July 8.
The judge told him: "There is no indication of what the likely punishment will be.
"The range of options open include a custodial sentence."
He told Melissa Wright that her case left to lie on file meant it came to an end today.
In an earlier hearing Cathy Thornton, prosecuting, said Scott Wright set up the charity in 2012 to help the families of children with disabilities and serious illnesses access funding.
She said: “The Crown say that funds were removed from the foundation contrary to the expectation of the families and others who had supported it."
She said the case should be dealt with at Bristol Crown Court as the charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
