Bristol Lidl to close for four months in 2020 for major refurbishment

A Lidl supermarket in Bristol will close for four months in 2020.

The German retailer's store on Kennedy Way in Yate will close at 9pm on the evening of January 4 to allow for an extension and complete refurbishment to take place.

A spokesperson said the store is set to reopen in May 2020, with an exact reopening date to be confirmed closer to the time.

The refurbishment will see Lidl construct a new store front and extend the overall sales area of the shop floor, while the new-look store will also include a bigger in-store bakery, a customer toilet and improved staff welfare facilities.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Glen Stidever, said: "We are always looking to improve our existing portfolio of stores.

"We’ve seen incredible demand in our Yate store so have decided to take this step to improve our offering in order to enhance the shopping experience for our customers.

"We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we close for a short period of development."
