Bristol hour-by-hour weather forecast amid Met Office yellow warning for Storm Brendan

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind for Bristol and other parts of the UK today.

Strong winds are expected to develop from 12noon and last for the majority of the day here in the city and it may bring some disruption.

Bristol, Bath, Cardiff and the whole of the South West are included in the yellow weather warning.

Here's what the high winds will likely mean for Bristolians out and about today.

What to expect

The Met Office have said that some delays to road, air, rail and ferry transport are likely.

Some bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled with journey times taking longer.

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes around the area and on bridges is likely.

Strong winds could result in short term loss of power to houses and businesses in Bristol.

It's also likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities could be affected by spray and large waves which could cause potential flooding.

Bristol weather forecast

8am to 12pm

The morning starts off cloudy, dry and relatively mild with top temperatures of  7C at 8am.

Rain steadily begins to move west throughout the morning and is expected to hit Bristol at 11am.

As rain hits the city during the latter part of the morning, temperatures are expected to rise to 9C by the time of 12pm.

12pm to 3pm

Light rain showers is the picture for the early part of the afternoon.

Winds will remain light until 2pm. At 2pm, gusts of up to 40mph are expected and these strong gusts will continue throughout most of the day.

3pm to 6pm

The latter part of the afternoon is where we'll see rain and strong gusts of wind at their worst. Chances of rain at 5pm according to BBC Weather stand at 96 per cent and gusts of up to 50mph are expected across Bristol.

6pm to midnight

A yellow warning for wind remains in force across the city until midnight. While winds begin to weaken by the time of 8pm onwards, heavy rain is expected to last into the night and into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
