Bristol has 69 coronavirus clusters with cases in eight neighbourhoods reaching double figures

There are now 69 coronavirus clusters being reported across the Bristol area.

Government data covering the six-day period from September 28 to October 4 has reported that eight of these areas have recorded more than ten cases in that time.

Bristol City Centre has returned the most cases, with 33 being returned from the central area meaning the number of positive cases in the area has more than doubled since the last data set was published.

The next most cases were found in Frenchay & Stoke Gifford, where 20 new cases were found.

The other areas returning double-figure cases were Filton, Bishopston, Redland & St Andrews, Cotham, Stoke Bishop and Henbury & Brentry.

A total of 69 areas in or around Bristol have recorded more than two cases in the six day period, which is enough for them to be marked on the "COVID-19 cluster map".

That is an increase from the 46 taken from the data set that was published earlier this week, which covered September 26 to October 2.

Where is the data coming from?

You can see the latest national data on the online COVID-19 cluster map.

The Covid-19 cluster map uses data from Public Health England's "second generation surveillance system".

For the latest Covid-19 news and data in your area, enter your postcode below.

The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.

The map is divided into sections - officially known as 'Middle Super Output Areas' - and each section is coloured a shade of blue, depending on how many positive Covid-19 test results have been recorded in that area.

The darker the blue on the image, the more positive test results recorded.
