Bristol harbourside pub The Ostrich shares reopening plans

A popular pub on Bristol's harbourside will reopen with a number of new features for visitors to enjoy.

The Ostrich, which boasts one of the biggest pub gardens in the city, is throwing its doors open today (July 8) having made "significant investment in a fun outside kitchen".

Portside BBQ will serve a range of grilled treats including burgers, loaded fries, seafood dishes and lobster roll.

Other major changes include the construction of new covered areas in the beer garden so people can enjoy al fresco drinks no matter what the weather, and the addition of more toilets.

The pub, owned by Butcombe Brewery, has also teamed up with award-winning Somerset-based ice cream producer Granny Gothards for those who want to enjoy a top-notch sundae with their pints.

Seating in the spacious outdoor area will be allocated on a first come, first served basis with no reservations possible and groups of more than six people are not permitted.

Butcombe has launched a new app called the 'Butcombe Order & Pay app' which it is asking customers to use when at the pub, to minimise the need for people to leave their tables.

Inside the pub, which underwent a major refurbishment in February this year, the Top Deck dining area and bar is also open with a menu featuring sharing plates and pub classics - but customers must book this in advance.

General manager Andy Clarke said: "The Ostrich is back with a bang and we can't wait to start serving our award winning food again.

"We've made a significant investment in a fun outside kitchen called Portside BBQ serving smash burgers, loaded fries, seafood and our signature lobster roll.

"We'll be serving Madagascan vanilla soft serve ice cream sundaes made with local award winning producer, Granny Gothards.

"The Top Deck dining area will be focused on sharing plates and pub classics, our famous pies and our ever popular Sunday roasts."

The Ostrich is located at Lower Guinea Street, Redcliffe, Bristol, BS1 6TJ. More information can be found on its website.
