Bristol Half Marathon weather: Met Office forecasts sun with highs of 21C

Thousands of runners will take to Bristol's streets for .

The 13.1-mile route takes people from Bristol Harbourside through Hotwells and under Clifton Suspension Bridge through Avon Gorge, before looping back along Spike Island and back to the city centre.

A cool, dry day would provide most runner's ideal conditions - but the Met Office is predicting sunshine for the half marathon on Sunday (September 15).

Highs of 21C are forecast, but the morning looks set to be cooler than the afternoon.

What the Met Office says

7am-10am: The runners village will open in Millennium Square at 7.30am, with the race assembly area opening at 8.30am.

The first wave of competitors will set off at 9.15am, with the second at 9.30am and then three more waves setting off every 10 minutes from 10am.

The Met Office forecasts just a five per cent chance of rain, with temperatures of around 10C early on, going up to 14C by 10am.

Half Marathon start

10am-1pm: Many people will still be pounding the pavements during this time, when temperatures will start to rise. The Met Office is predicting highs of 19C up until 1pm.

1pm-4pm: You might want to grab a nice cold drink when you finish, as highs of 21C will hit around 4pm.
