Bristol Grammar School headmaster enters self-isolation

The head of Bristol Grammar School has confirmed he is in self-isolation due to a possible coronavirus infection.

Jaideep Barot started to experience symptoms of Covid-19 on Monday, March 16.

He has stopped any contact with staff and students at the mixed all-through school on University Road, Clifton, which more than 1,300 pupils attend.

Mr Barot said: “I developed a mild cough over the course of the morning on Monday, and so as a precaution, began self-isolating.

“What I am doing is no different to what we would expect any member of staff and any pupil to do in the same situation.

“I remain in touch with my deputies and the wider team at the school.  I do not feel especially unwell, but putting the welfare of our pupils and our whole community first, had to be my priority.”
