Bristol gig legend Big Jeff shares first photo since house fire

Bristol legend Big Jeff has shared the first photo since he was seriously injured in a house fire at his home in Totterdown last month. Jeff, 39, is still in hospital but he regained consciousness at the end of June.

Jeff’s family and his art manager, Lee Dodds, have said Jeff is likely to remain in hospital for ‘many months’. The well-known music fan who attends most gigs in the city was involved in an accidental fire whilst cooking at home on June 6.

Jeff has now shared a photo of him recovering in the Morriston Hospital in Swansea. In the photo, the extent of his serious burns are clear for all to see and his trademark mop of hair has been cut short.

Lee Dodds said: “It’s been six weeks since his accident at home and we are pleased to be able to tell you that he’s doing well and now able to eat. He’s receiving lots of physio to assist with getting him back on his feet and mobile again. Jeff would like to pass on his appreciation to all the staff in the burns unit, he's told us he couldn't be better looked after."

Jeff posted this message last week to his friends on Facebook: “Thanks for all the love and everything, looking forward to getting back to being with you guys with spirit and determination. I can't wait to see you guys x x x x” Big Jeff x”

At Glastonbury Festival Bristol band Idles shared a tribute to Big Jeff , describing him as “everything we wish we represent”.
