Bristol food writer Claire Thomson releases plea to find notebook stolen from her car

A Bristol food writer has launched an appeal to help her find her notebook.

The bronze-coloured book was in a bag which was stolen from the footwell of Claire Thomson's car at around 2pm yesterday afternoon, outside her house on North Road, near to Montpelier railway station.

It contains notes and recipes she plans to write about in her fifth book, Home Cookery Year, which is set for release in autumn next year.

The bag, which is green with leather handles, also contained Claire's wallet, a Christmas present from her eldest daughter Grace, which had £40 in cash and three contactless debit cards in it, but Claire is not concerned about the financial loss.

"It's so annoying, I parked outside my house and was unloading my car for 10 minutes having been away for the week and that's when it was taken," said Claire, whose published books include New Kitchen Basics and The Art of The Larder.

"I checked my online bank statement later on and saw that they then took a train from Montpelier to Stapleton Road before spending £60 in Malik Supermarket, but that doesn't really bother me.

"I just really want my notebook back. I carry a notebook with me everywhere I go as I like to write things down that come into my head but not digitally."

Claire said the notepad is three months old and contains around 60 pages of important notes.

She thinks whoever took her bag will have spent the money before disposing of it somewhere, and is calling on members of the public to keep an eye out for it.

If you see either the bag or notepad, you can get in touch with Claire on Twitter.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A bag containing a notebook and wallet, which contained bank cards and cash, was taken from a car in North Road, St Andrews yesterday (Sunday, October 13) at about 2pm.

"The theft is to be filed pending any positive lines of enquiry or information being made available.

"Anyone able to help is asked to contact us reference 5219238705."
