Bristol flat fire spreads as crews tackle early morning blaze

Firefighters in Bristol were called to an incident during the early hours of the morning today (June 12) where a fire had spread into the roof of the property.

Crews from Temple, Bedminster and Kingswood were all called to the report of a fire in a flat in Bristol at 1.12am on Saturday.

The flat along Lilymead Avenue, in Totterdown, required four fighters to tackle the blaze inside.

Firefighters found the fire within a first floor flat that had spread into the roof of the property.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one 45mm jet and a high-pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Currently, the cause of the incident remains unknown and investigations have been passed onto Avon and Somerset Police.

It's the fifth incident listed on the Avon Fire and Rescue Services website to have happened in Bristol this month.

Fire crews this month have responded to a vehicle fire, bench fire, carried out a water rescue and rescued a trapped bird across Bristol.
