Bristol firefighters cut man from vehicle after Temple Way crash

A man was cut free from a vehicle after a crash that closed a key Bristol city centre road. Fire crews from three stations rushed to the scene of the collision on Temple Way yesterday evening (July 28).

Crews from Bedminster, Avonmouth and Kingswood assisted the ambulance service in safely extricating the man. Firefighters had to remove the roof, doors and boot of the car so they could safely remove the man.

On Twitter last night, Bedminster Fire Station reported: "Road Traffic collision in the city this evening with @AFRSAvonmouth and @AFRSKingswood. Following a medical assessment by @swasFT, we had to remove the roof, boot and doors of the vehicle so the male patient could be safely extricated from the vehicle. #notjustfires #crash."

The images showed the Assembly Bristol office block and St Philip and St Jacob Church in the background, suggesting the crash happened close to the new Leonardo Hotel. Travel West tweeted about the collision at 5.30pm, advising: "Temple Way Underpass closed in both directions following southbound RTC.

"Please use Old Market Roundabout to divert around the closure and if possible avoid area." A further message at 7.30pm confirmed: "Temple Way underpass has re-opened following earlier incident.

"However, there is another incident as you exit Broad Plain onto Temple Way but there is space to get past the incident." Firefighters did not state if the man cut free from the car was injured.
