Bristol fire to 'last for several hours' today as roads closed

Firefighters are expecting to be on the scene of a large fire in Bristol for several hours today (September 28).

Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called to Ambrose Road this morning, where a blaze has taken hold of a block of flats.

Pictures and video footage from the scene show a large fire burning and a huge cloud of black smoke rising into the air.

The fire broke out on the roof of the building and has spread to a neighbouring property.

The service has confirmed everyone in the building has been "accounted for".

Ambrose Road and Crosby Row have been closed, while Hotwells Road remains open.

Crews have been sent to the scene from seven fire stations.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service warned people to close their windows due to the smoke.
