Two popular Bristol brands have teamed up to bring an epic Christmas sandwich to the city - and they're giving it away for free to celebrate its launch.

Sandwich Sandwich and The Jolly Hog will unveil their festive sarnie - which they claim is the 'biggest and best Christmas sandwich ever' - to the public on Wednesday, December 1.

And to mark its arrival, Sandwich Sandwich will be giving away 1,000 free sandwiches from its brand new branch on Baldwin Street from 11am until 2pm on the launch day.

One lucky person will also win a Sandwich Sandwich Black Card which will be hidden in one of the bags, securing them a year's worth of free sandwiches.

Sandwich Sandwich CEO Nick Kleiner told Bristol Live there will also be many more surprises on the day, and predicts people will start queueing from 11am.

He said: “We have been serving sandwiches to the people of Bristol for over 10 years and we’ve always had so much love from our customers. So, for Christmas this year we want to give something back and we want to go big.

Sandwich Sandwich has said the event will be "a proper sandwich celebration” which includes "the world’s first gravy bar, plus lots of other awesome surprises".

The sandwich on offer boasts The Jolly Hog's black treacle bacon as well as its sausage stuffing, sliced roast turkey, cranberry sauce and sage and crispy onion mayonnaise to top it off.

As if this wasn't enough, each sandwich will be accompanied by a pot of turkey gravy.

Olly Kohn, co-founder of The Jolly Hog ,said: "We are thrilled to be partnering up with Bristol institution Sandwich Sandwich on what we believe is the biggest and best Christmas sandwich ever."

Free sandwiches will be available to collect from the Sandwich Sandwich branch at 48-52 Baldwin St, Bristol BS1 1QQ between 11am and 2pm on Wednesday, December 1.
