Bristol F1 star Lando Norris targeting first win in French Grand Prix after impressive qualification for McLaren

Bristol F1 star Lando Norris says he is targeting a win in tomorrow's French Grand Prix after an impressive qualification.

In what is quickly becoming an impressive debut season in the sport for Norris, he managed to secure fifth place on the grid for McLaren.

It leaves him well placed for tomorrow's race and he says he is looking for a maiden race win - although he knows that there may have to be incidents in front of him for this to happen.

He told the Daily Mail: "The aim is to win. Whether that is going to happen I don't know. Our pace is pretty good.

"I think Ferrari and Mercedes are probably quicker. But it looks as if we can fight against the Red Bulls. Fifth, we can be happy with. For higher than that we need people crashing, which we hope for."

He added: "It's a good day – so far my best achievement in Formula One."
