Bristol drivers warned by police to drive safely in 'eerie' fog

Bristol drivers have been warned to drive safely as heavy fog causes difficult driving conditions in parts of the city.

A yellow warning for fog has been issued by the Met Office this morning (April 17) from 4.30am to 9am.

While it doesn't cover Bristol, it covers areas of Somerset nearby such as Bridgwater and Glastonbury.

According to a statement on the Met Office website, slower journey times on the roads and cancellations to flights are expected in the affected areas.

In a tweet, PC Joe Iles of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, warned motorists to drive safely during their commute this morning, while Travel West advised people to "use caution when travelling on the roads".

Many commuters have already struggled with the heavy fog this morning.

Emma Sewell commented on Twitter: "There’s a very eerie fog over parts of Bristol this morning and it’s so bad that I couldn’t see lights I knew were there until I was on top of them.

"Drive/walk/cycle safe everyone and if you have lights on your vehicle use them."
