Bristol dad suffers 'facial injuries' after being attacked by group with metal bars

Police are investigating after a Bristol dad was attacked by a group of men carrying metal bars in Easton.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was assaulted by four or five males in Villiers Road shortly after midnight on Saturday (March 14).

He suffered facial injuries and made his own way to the hospital following the attack while the suspects ran off in the direction of Chaplin Road.

The offenders were described as black and wearing dark clothing, with their faces covered.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has confirmed an investigation into the assault is under way and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

"We were called at 12.10am yesterday morning (Sat 14 March) to reports of an assault in Villiers Road in Easton," a police spokesman said.

"A man in his 30s had just been attacked by a group of four or five males, who were carrying metal bars.

"The offenders were described as black and wearing dark clothing, with their faces covered. They are said to have run off in the direction of Chaplin Road.

"The victim suffered facial injuries and made his own way to hospital.

"An investigation is underway."

The uncle of the victim has confirmed to Bristol Live he has since been released from hospital and is recovering at home.

He added he wants the community to take more steps to address gang-related violence in the area.

"These are your children on the streets," he said.

"They might get involved with the wrong crowd. It could have been a lot worse - they could have used knives."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to report it through the police website or call 101 and give reference number 5220061361.
