Bristol cyclist taken to hospital after attack by gang of teens

A man was taken to hospital after being robbed of his bike.

The incident happened on the Bristol to Bath cycle path near Chelsea Park at around 8.10pm on Saturday, August 8.

The victim was riding along the path when he was approached by a group of six teenagers, before one of them knocked him to the ground and assaulted him before stealing his bike, a Lapiere Sensium 400.

The group then fled the scene in the direction of Chelsea Park Road.

The man suffered facial injuries that left him needing hospital treatment.

Police say the main offender is described as black, around six feet, three inches tall and between 17 and 18 years old, with short hair and a Bristol accent.

The bike that was stolen was a Lapiere Sensium 400 (Avon and Somerset Police)

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time.

"We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the bike offered for sale."

Anyone with information about the robbery should call police on 101 and quote reference number 5220178452, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
