Bristol Covid latest as two more deaths recorded in last 24 hours

Two new Covid-related deaths have been confirmed in the Bristol area over the last 24 hours.

The most recent fatalities within 28 days of a positive Covid test have been confirmed in Bristol city area today (Friday, October 1).

These deaths have been reported along with 334 new cases in the city and its surrounding areas.

There were 115 new positive tests in the city over the last 24 hours, with 118 in Bath and North East Somerset.

There were 55 new cases in North Somerset, as well as 46 in South Gloucestershire.

The total number of cases confirmed in each region around Bristol, with the daily rise in brackets, are as follows:

  • City of Bristol - 59,872 (+115)
  • North Somerset - 19,902 (+55)
  • South Gloucestershire - 30,447 (+46)
  • Bath and North East Somerset - 18,402 (+118)

The total number of deaths recorded in each region are as follows:

  • City of Bristol - 534 (+2)
  • North Somerset - 331 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire - 377 (-)
  • Bath and North East Somerset - 237 (-)

The Government said a further 127 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 136,789.

As of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 35,577 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Government data up to September 29 shows that of the 93,765,322 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,863,490 were first doses, a rise of 34,372 on the previous day.

Some 44,901,832 were second doses, an increase of 34,459.
