Bristol coronavirus figures show more than 8,000 cases recorded since start of pandemic

The latest government figures for coronavirus in Bristol have been released and the city is now seeing more than 8,000 cases.

This is up 265 people from yesterday's figure, which was reported as seeing almost 600 coronavirus cases confirmed across the region in a single day on the eve of England's second lockdown.

In comparison to 7,552 cases recorded in Bristol on November 1, as of today (November 5) there are 8,501.

In South Gloucestershire there has also been a fairly substantial rise in cases, coming up 138 cases from the day before, the region now has 3,349 recorded cases of Covid-19.

Between October 29 to November 4, 1,830 infections were recorded in Bristol alone.

The latest R number is estimated at 1.1 to 1.3 with a daily infection growth rate range of +2% to +4% .

New coronavirus cases soared by 24,141 and 1,470 patients were admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours, new government figures show.

Data also shows, across the South West, 544 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals between October 19 to 25.

The UK's Covid-19 death toll has jumped by 378 today.

Bristol : 8,051 (+265)

South Gloucestershire : 3,439 (+138)

North Somerset : 2,346 (+89)

Bath and North East Somerset: 2,090 (+47)

Public Health England data shows, there's been five coronavirus-related deaths in Bristol between October 29 to November 4.
