Bristol coronavirus cases rise again in latest update from Public Health England

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bristol has risen by nine in the last 24 hours.

Public Health England revealed there have been 65 positive tests in the city as of this evening (March 28), up from 56 yesterday.

The previous day saw the biggest increase in Bristol cases so far, with a rise of 15.

In South Gloucestershire, the number of cases has surged from 37 to 49.

In North Somerset, the figure has risen from 25 to 31, and in Bath & North-East Somerset it has increased from 26 to 32.

In North Somerset, two patients who contracted coronavirus have died.

They include a 94-year-old man who passed away at Weston General Hospital and retired police officer Nick Matthews who died in Bristol Royal Infirmary on Saturday, March 14.

The 59-year-old, who had underlying health issues, died shortly after returning from a holiday in the Canary Islands.

There have been 17,089 cases in the UK and 1,019 deaths.
