Bristol coronavirus cases remain high as no deaths reported across region

Bristol recorded 284 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours to Thursday (August 12), down from 322 yesterday.

There have now been a total of 49,640 coronavirus cases across the city since the pandemic was declared last year.

In South Gloucestershire there were 162 new positive coronavirus tests confirmed today while there were 106 in North Somerset.

In nearby Bath and North East Somerset there were 97 new coronavirus cases identified..

Across the United Kingdom there have been a further 33,074 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

There have also been a further 94 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 130,701.

However there Government data up to August 11 shows that of the 87,184,438 Covid jabs given in the UK, 47,170,968 were first doses, a rise of 41,568 on the previous day.

Some 40,013,470 were second doses, an increase of 173,761.
