Bristol coronavirus area-by-area breakdown as 67 new cases are discovered

Another 67 cases of coronavirus have been recorded across the Bristol region in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures.

The highest number of cases were discovered in Bristol, where 29 new cases were found in the area.

South Gloucestershire also had a high number of cases, with 17 found in the area, while North Somerset recorded 12 new cases.

Bath and North East Somerset had the lowest number of new cases, with just nine.

It brings the total number of coronavirus cases in the Bristol area to 63,347 since the start of the pandemic.

In positive news, there were no new deaths recorded in the county within 28 days of a patient testing positive for Covid-19.

The Government said a further 63 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday.

It brings the UK total to 126,445.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 149,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further.

It brings the total to 4,319,128.

The latest data on deaths

The number of deaths within 28 days of positive coronavirus test in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with any new deaths recorded in brackets.

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 218 (no change)

  • Bristol: 468 (no change)

  • North Somerset: 305 (no change)

  • South Gloucestershire: 352 (no change)

The breakdown of new cases

The daily rise in cases for each part of the region is recorded below, with the total figure during the pandemic in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: +9 (8,153)

  • Bristol: +29 (30,304)

  • North Somerset: +12 (9,928)

  • South Gloucestershire : +17 (14,962)

The infection rate for each area

This is for the rolling seven-day period up to March 19, the most recent for which data is available

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 21.7 cases per 100,000 of population
  • Bristol: 49 cases per 100,000 of population
  • North Somerset: 29.3 cases per 100,000 of population
  • South Gloucestershire: 38.2 cases per 100,000 of population

How many people have been vaccinated?

Government data up to March 23 shows that of the 31,766,669 jabs given in the UK so far, 28,991,188 were first doses – a rise of 337,665 on the previous day.

Some 2,775,481 were second doses, an increase of 242,642.
