Two long-running shops announced their closure in December, sparking sadness among the many who enjoyed visiting them over the decades.
But in more positive news a branch of Fred Perry is set to open on the road after lockdown in the unit formerly home to women's retailer Whistles, and there's now another new addition to look forward to.
Former convenience store Park Street Local is reopening as a branch of London Camera Exchange (LCE), spelling good news for those who have picked up photography as a hobby in lockdown.
In addition to basic photographic requirements such as cameras, lenses, memory cards and film, many of LCE's branches also offer a high quality processing service alongside a range of albums and frames for displaying or storing work.
London Camera Exchange was founded in the 1950's when its founders acquired a premises in Guildford's Tunsgate, from which they operated a photography studio.
Tunsgate Studios' owners soon noticed their customers were interested in the equipment they used in the studio and began selling some of it to them.
When customers started to offer other cameras in part exchange for newer or more expensive models, the business as it is known exists today was born.
To this day the inaugural Guildford branch still exists and the business has grown to include a total of 26 shops spread across England.
The London Camera Exchange group remains one of the largest family owned chains of specialist photographic shops in England.
LCE's other central shop on The Horsefair will close down, with staff relocated to the new branch.
