Bristol City winger Callum O'Dowda discuss his future amid Leeds United transfer talk

Bristol City winger Callum O'Dowda insists he has put talk over his future to the back of his mind while on international duty.

The 24-year-old was linked with a number of clubs, including Leeds United this season and has not featured for the Robins since the middle of March following a knee injury, but has been fit enough to be called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their clashes against Denmark and Gibraltar.

A report in The Times last month suggested that the wideman wants a fresh start away from Aston Gate, with Robins boss Lee Johnson claiming that O'Dowda changed his mind following a verbal agreement on a new deal.

"We started the negotiations, the negotiations seemed positive, he then came back with what he wanted (through) his representatives," said Johnson. "We agreed to that at which point Callum said he wasn't sure.

"At that point, something's happened, something's changed. And at that point my focus has to be on the ones that are keen on producing week-in, week-out on a Saturday."

As it stands, O'Dowda has a year remaining on his contract and the player was asked about his future while on international duty.

"I haven't really been thinking about it to be honest, the focus is all on the international games we have now," O'Dowda said.

"The injury knocked me a little bit and I missed quite a few games.

"There is interest in me, there always is, probably just because my contract is running out.

"But I'm still a Bristol City player and as I said, my main focus is on Denmark on Friday."

Leeds were originally linked with the left-sided former Oxford man in January, but instead chose to pursue the Daniel James deal which eventually fell through at the 11th hour.
