Bristol City were the 'highest earners' from Championship player sales in the summer transfer window

Bristol City were the top earners from player sales in the Championship during the summer window.

Now the dust has settled on the transfer market and there can be no more comings and goings, it is evident the Robins have done some pretty good business.

The club has signed 13 players either on loan or permanently for a cost of around £21m, while the sales of Lloyd Kelly, Adam Webster and Marlon Pack generated a cool £37m - the highest income in the division.

Player sales can provide a major financial boost for clubs, particularly if the buying club is one from the Premier League - as was the case with Kelly and Webster.

At the other end of the spectrum, Hull City, Wigan Athletic and Millwall did not earn a single penny from departures, according to Transfermarkt, while Reading and Stoke both picked up less than £1m.

The website has not adjusted its data to reflect Marlon Pack's transfer fee, which was actually £4m rather than £735,000, so Bristol Live calculated the true figure.

Disclaimer: It is possible some of the other transfer fees are yet to be updated too.
