Bristol City U21 ratings: Senior players struggle to grasp opportunity as Robins leave it late

Max O'Leary - 6

Tipped an effort wide of the post early on but apart from that, had nothing to do as Wednesday sat back to absorb the pressure. Almost caught in a mix-up with Low but made a good challenge to prevent embarrassment.

George Tanner - 6

One nervy moment in the first half when his opponent beat him for pace on the outside to force a save out of O'Leary. No other concerns defensively but could have taken more risks going forward as the hosts posed little threat.

Timm Klose - 6

Comfortable but rusty. Had a moment of worry when almost dispossessed in the first half and some sloppy passes forward. Eased himself into the game but had very little to do defensively. Was the target man from corners but couldn't trouble the keeper.

Joe Low - 7

Again, barely anything to do as Wednesday sat back and very little came down his side of attack. One lapse of concentration when he almost left O'Leary short with a backpass but the keeper managed to get him out of trouble. Scored the winner right at the death with a header at the back post.

Kane Wilson - 6

Glimpses of his ability out on the right touchline, keen to get forward to help City break the deadlock but not enough of his quality on show. Looked to cut inside to create space but sometimes ran into dead ends. Missed a sitter when the offside flag went up in the final 10 minutes. His free-kick at the end was turned in by Low.

Cam Pring - 6

A quieter game than he would have hoped. Plenty of energy up and down the touchline but a lot of City's attacks went down the other side. Shrugged off his opponent with ease defensively and smart in possession.

Dylan Kadji - 6

Was the deepest player in the midfield three in the first half and was given the time and space to dictate play. Pressed forward in the second half and showed nice, intricate touches in midfield. Frustrating with his passing at times when in good positions, particularly towards the end when City had a great opportunity to break.

Omar Taylor-Clarke - 6

Stung the palms of the keeper in the first half with a decent effort from range. Lots of energy in midfield and eager to have the ball at his feet. Struggled to play it through Wednesday's disciplined midfield.

Tommy Backwell (off 62, Ben Acey) - 6

Played in the No10 role behind the two forwards but failed to influence the play going forward. Deliveries from corners were okay but nothing Sheffield Wednesday couldn't deal with. Substituted off midway through the second half.

Sam Bell (off 62, Marley Rose) - 6

Showed his danger by forcing a save after a mazy run early on. Positive movement but his final ball was lacking and didn't seem to click alongside his strike partner. Seemed to pick up a knock in the second half before being replaced.

Seb Palmer-Houlden - 6

On the back of a new contract and recalled from his loan spell with Chippenham, the towering forward struggled to make an impact. In fairness to him, he didn't get a lot of service from the wide men. No faults in regards to his effort, perhaps guilty of trying too hard at times.

Substitutions

Marley Rose (on 62, Bell) - 6

Spurned City's best chance when he latched onto a ball over the top but had his strike saved by the keeper's legs. Was also unlucky with an overhead kick.

Ben Acey (on 62, Backwell) - 6

Looked tidy on the ball and impressed with his close control. Had a half-opportunity with his left-foot but failed to generate enough power.
