Bristol City U21 player ratings vs Charlton: Harry Leeson superb as Elijah Morrison shows class

Stefan Bajic - 7

Was handed his first real test five minutes before half-time and showed great awareness to come off his line, close down the angle and make an important save. Impressed with his kicking and was confident in coming out to claim the ball. Got down well to claw away a header in the second half.

Harry Leeson - 8

Went close to breaking the deadlock in the opening minutes when his powerful effort was superbly tipped over. His marauding runs down the right flank created a handful of opportunities combined with some dangerous crosses into the area. Always seemed to be an outlet out on the right flank.

Zac Bell - 7

Interesting to see him line up on the right on the defensive three. Was happy to press forward in the first half and make that move beyond Leeson but sat deeper in the second half with City ahead. Wasn't particularly tested from a defensive point of view.

Raph Araoye - 7

Started on the left of the defensive three and went about his business without any problems. So strong up against the Charlton forward who was outmuscled on a handful of occasions when he threatened to take him on in the box. Very dominant aerially.

Jamie Knight-Lebel - 7

Played in the middle of the back three and looked comfortable with the captain's armband. Was assured with the ball at his feet and managed to get himself on the scoresheet at the end with an unmarked header at the back post.

Elijah Morrison - 8

Intriguing to watch the 16-year-old in action who lined up at left wing-back. Found himself in plenty of attacking areas including an effort that flashed across goal. Could remain high up the field in the second half with Charlton down to 10 which kept their tricky winger Sahid Kamara penned back.

Han-Noah Massengo - 8

Finally grabbed his first goal in City colours when he made the run from midfield, surged into the area and confidently buried it low into the bottom corner. Ironically, almost had a second with an effort straight at the keeper. Showed his touches of class and his quality at this level was evident.

Dylan Kadji (off 80, Ben Acey) - 7

A dominant figure in the middle who caused plenty of problems with his driving runs forward. His partnership alongside Massengo prevented Charlton from playing through the lines. Could happily sit deep in the second half and dictate play, sometimes guilty of forcing the ball.

Omar Taylor-Clarke - 8

Superbly dispossessed his opponent in the middle before finding Massengo to assist the opening goal. Had a great eye for a pass forward almost playing through Sam Bell. Energetic playing behind the frontmen but drifted a little out of the game in the second half. Very positive in his play, taking advantage of that space between the attack and midfield.

Prince Henry (off 60, Seb Palmer-Holden) - 6

Lively in the first half without really troubling the Charlton goal. His surging run forward on the stroke of half-time resulted in the Charlton player receiving a red card. Closed his opponents down but could have linked up with his strike partner Bell more efficiently.

Sam Bell (off 60, Sam Pearson) - 6

His boundless energy in the first half with his weaving runs and was unlucky not to grab a couple for himself. Just didn't fall for him in front of goal with an effort well blocked while the keeper snuffed out a strike from close range.

Substitutes

Seb Palmer-Holden (on 60, Prince Henry) - 6

His height and physique asked questions of the Charlton defence and almost made an instant impact when he almost turned in Leeson's cross immediately after his introduction.

Sam Pearson (on 60, Sam Bell) - 7

Was unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet when his effort from the edge of the area was well saved by the keeper. His fresh legs and movement caused issues at the back as he fed off Palmer-Holden's height and ability to hold it up.

Ben Acey (on 80, Kadji) - N/A

Subs not used: Josh Campbell-Slowley, Jose Casa-Grande
