Bristol City to host Premier League side in final pre-season friendly

Bristol City have announced their third pre-season friendly of the summer.

The Robins will host Premier League Crystal Palace in their final match before the season proper.

Roy Hodgson's men will visit Ashton Gate on Saturday, July 27, a week ahead of the 2019/20 Championship curtain-raiser.

The last time the teams faced each other was in the Carabao Cup in October 2017, with the Robins running out 4-1 winners after goals from Matty Taylor, Milan Duric, Joe Bryan and Callum O'Dowda.

Speaking to the Robins' official website, boss Lee Johnson said: “It should be an exciting match and one we are already looking forward to. We received a number of enquiries from overseas clubs about the possibility of them coming to Ashton Gate in pre-season which reflects our progress and the level we are playing at.

“However, we feel that Premier League opposition in Crystal Palace will give us the best possible preparation ahead of the new campaign.”

The club has already announced that a City XI will play Weston-super-Mare on August 3 while they will also visit AFC Wimbledon on July 9, ahead of a pre-season tour to Florida.

Ticket details will be announced nearer the time.
