Bristol City striker heads to Stockport County as defender gives contract update

Bristol City U23s striker Louis Britton has gone out on loan to Stockport County.

The former Mangotsfield United forward joins up with Jim Gannon’s side until January, as they compete at the top end of the Vanarama National League, just one step outside the Football League.

Britton, 19, signed for City’s development squad in July 2019 and spent time on loan at Yate Town last season before rising up the football pyramid this campaign.

He has also previously spent time with National League South side Bath City and had gone out to Torquay United, scoring on his debut for Gary Johnson's side.

But the Gulls recently brought in more experienced forward Billy Waters on a short-term deal and Britton subsequently returned to Ashton Gate, with Johnson thanking and explaining that he has a very good future.

Britton scored in midweek against Crewe Alexandra U23s - to follow up a hat-trick netted against Swansea City earlier in the campaign - before heading north to Edgeley Park to take the no.26 shirt.

Meanwhile, Bristol City defender Jack Hunt has discussed his longer term future at the club.

The 29-year-old defender spoke at the pre-Norwich City press conference and confirmed that he is out of contract at the end of the season.

No talks have taken place over extending his stay at Ashton Gate, but the right wing-back who has been in good form this season and is suiting Dean Holden's 3-5-2 formation explained that he would be open to his extending his time in the West Country.

"You’re right, I am out of contract in the summer," he explained. "There’s not been any discussions about me staying longer than that at this moment in time. Football at the moment is a crazy place, and I’m just concentrating on being available and carrying on my good form.

"My representatives and the club may come to some agreement if those discussions do take place at some point. But as long as I’m playing on the pitch, I’m happy," he said.
