Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou tests positive for covid and must isolate for 10 days

Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou has tested positive for COVID-19 and must now self-isolate for 10 days.

The Robins confirmed the news as they announced their team to face Cardiff City on Friday evening.

The powerhouse centre-forward had been named in the Senegal international squad earlier in the week to face Guinea Bissau on 11 and 15 November but has now withdrawn from that squad.

The club confirmed that it is both Diedhiou and his wife who have tested positive and that they both will now recover as per EFL protocols.

A short statement on the club website confirmed that: 'Famara and his wife presented with symptoms on Wednesday, November 4 and they immediately self-isolated.

'In line with the most recent EFL guidance regarding testing on the development of relevant symptoms, the Diédhous were subsequently tested and returned positive tests.

'Everyone at Bristol City wishes them a full and speedy recovery.'

The Robins, meanwhile, named all three of their remaining front-line forwards to play against Cardiff City in the televised 6pm encounter.

Bristol City XI (4-3-3): Bentley; Hunt, Vyner, Kalas, Dasilva; O'Dowda, Nagy, Paterson; Martin, Semenyo, Wells. Subs: O'Leary, Moore, Edwards, Towler, Rowe, Brunt, Massengo.

Chris Martin scored his first league goal for Bristol City in the opening minutes of the 95th Severnside Derby.

Diedhiou's long-term future is still in doubt as the attacker is out of contract at the end of the season and the 27-year-old has only made two league starts all season.
