Bristol City set to miss out with Arsenal striker on his way to Leeds United

Bristol City look set to miss out on Eddie Nketiah.

The Robins had been in the chase for the young Arsenal striker all summer and at one stage looked to be leading the race.

Yet his strong pre-season form created plenty of competition for his signature, with Gunners boss Unai Emery even questioning whether the 20-year-old should be sent out on loan.

Nketiah was expected at the Robins yesterday for a medical but did not turn up, and now Gunners expert David Ornstein has reported that he is currently travelling to Leeds United to pen a season-long loan.

Leeds were fairly late runners in the race for Nketiah, but appear to have won the race due to director of football Victor Orta.

Orta is personal friends with Emery after their time together at Sevilla, and Ornstein claims his pitch to Nketiah has convinced the striker to join Leeds.

It leaves the Robins still looking for a striker, with the transfer window set to shut at 5pm this evening.

They worked hard on the Nketiah deal, showcasing a positive atmosphere that the striker would work in at Ashton Gate and pointing at the development of previous loan players, such as Tammy Abraham.

Yet Orta's pitch, combined with the presence of manager Marcelo Bielsa, appears to have swung it in the favour of Elland Road.
