Bristol City set to deal West Brom transfer blow as Robins safeguard future of key defensive duo

Bristol City are set to announce new contracts for defensive duo Taylor Moore and Zak Vyner, Bristol Live understands.

The Robins are looking to tie down several players to new deals, with 19 players' contracts set to expire in the summer.

And Moore and Vyner are set to become the latest players to put pen to paper on fresh terms, with new contracts for the defenders to be confirmed by the club before the weekend.

Moore has been a regular under Dean Holden, after spending time out on loan at Blackpool last season, with the 23-year-old attracting attention from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion as a result.

The Baggies were keen on a £3million deal for the centre-back as Slaven Bilic's men look to try and establish themselves back in the top flight, following promotion from the Championship.

But it is understood that City are now set to confirm a new four-year deal for Moore, ending speculation over his future.

Meanwhile, Vyner is also set to sign a new deal at Ashton Gate too, having become a key figure in Holden's side.

Vyner has had spells on loan at Accrington Stanley, Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United and Aberdeen in recent seasons, but has established himself in the City first team post-lockdown with a string of impressive displays.

And the 23-year-old is now set to be rewarded with a new deal as City look to safeguard the future of some of their younger players.

Like Moore, it is expected that a new deal for Vyner will be agreed before the weekend, with the duo set to follow Max O'Leary in signing a new deal after he put pen to paper earlier this week.

Bristol Live also understands that teenage striker Louis Britton is to join National League Torquay on loan and work under former Robins manager Gary Johnson.

The 19-year-old scored a hat-trick earlier this week as the Under-23 side beat Swansea City 3-0 and spent last season with Bath City.
