Bristol City's supporter liaison officer switches to new first team role as Robins revamp fan services

Bristol City's popular supporter liaison officer Matt Parsons is stepping down from his current role to help out with the first-team squad.

Parsons confirmed the news himself on forum One Team In Bristol, however Bristol Live understands that the club is also altering the way it services fans - to enable for a broader service.

The new job will be as head of player logistics to the Bristol City first team, organising away travel and tours, and Parsons has played a major role organising the recent trip to the US - a position he performed previously at Arsenal.

The club are not directly replacing Parsons but are set to promote Ryan Corrigan, customer service manager, with the customer services team set to inherit much of the SLO role.

The club is due to confirm this in an official announcement soon and hopes that supporters will benefit from an expanded service.

Parsons wrote that his new job is 'effective immediately' as he thanked supporters for their time.

The former Bristol City SLO has been visible in many of the pictures at the current Florida training camp, as he organised and ran a quiz for the first-team squad and more.

Full leaving statement published online (which was passed to Bristol Live)

Hello

I wanted to update you personally about a change to my role.

As some of you are already aware, during last season and during this pre-season I have taken on the responsibility of player logistics for the first team, including away travel operations for all domestic fixtures.

This role has now been formalised with me being appointed as Head of Player Logistics, effective immediately. This means that I will have to relinquish the Supporter Liaison Officer position but I have been working behind the scenes with Ryan Corrigan, who will head up the liaison with our fans. Ryan has been with the business for a year heading up Supporter Services and some of you may have already spoken to him. Ryan has worked closely with me and the BCFC management team and understands that our Supporters should be at the heart of everything we do operationally. There will be some advancements in supporter liaison services next season, specifically for City fans, particularly on match day and social media.

I will be introducing Ryan to key groups over the coming weeks and he is keen to open channels of communication.

Finally, I also wanted to thank you for all your support during my time as SLO, it has been a pleasure meeting many of you and I value the relationships we have created. I’m thrilled to be moving into this new role but I’m still here and no doubt will see you at games in the future.

COYR

Matt
