Bristol City's Lee Johnson and Leeds United's Marcelo Bielsa named among best managers in the EFL

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has been named the fourth best coach in the EFL.

Popular magazine Four Four Two compiled the list of the 12 best managers in the EFL, to go alongside their 51 best players in the EFL, in which Bristol City's Adam Webster featured.

They speak highly of Johnson having led the Robins in a convincing play-off race this season.

They said: "Yes, those regular barren runs are a concern: two points from five games in early autumn; four straight defeats in late autumn; another five winless games before last weekend. But then you have those months of invincibility, which have taken Bristol City to exciting heights.

"There’s never been a streakier manager, which is odd considering Johnson isn’t some momentum-riding shouter, but a canny tactician – see how he adapted City’s setup to win away at Sheffield United, then Middlesbrough three days later. However you look at it, they’re sixth, having lost their best defender and their best attacker last summer."

Johnson comes behind Marcelo Bielsa of Leeds United in third - although the article is at pains to point out that any of the top three could be considered number one.

Sheffield United's Chris Wilder comes in second, with Daniel Farke of Norwich City top.
