Bristol City's injury list ahead of visiting Luton Town; Tomas Kalas and Korey Smith on mend

Bristol City are getting ready to face Luton Town with the aim of going 11 games unbeaten and gaining more points on their travels after two draws at Brentford and Preston North End last time they hit the road.

The Hatters' home form sees them have the fifth worst record on their own turf in the division, so Robins will be confident.

However what effect the international break will have remains to be seen, with City starting slowly against Stoke City after the last pause in league action - even if they did ultimately go on and win that game.

Ahead of Saturday's game, here's a rundown of where the squad sits injury-wise with several important players not far from a return.

Tomas Kalas

The Czech Republic defender is highly unlikely to play on Saturday with his recent Instagram post confirming that he is yet to return to full training.

However, he is not far away and could be involved in a game soon - though Bristol City are taking their time with the former Chelsea man to ensure that there is no reoccurrence of injury.

The 26-year-old club record signing will be a huge boost for the Robins when he does return.

"He won’t make it for this weekend but he probably wouldn’t have got in anyway with the form of the defenders. And that’s not being disrespectful to Tomas, that’s just the way the boys have been performing. They hold the shirt," said Lee Johnson at the pre-Luton Town press conference.

Adam Nagy

Has returned to full training, as we understand it, but was not involved with Hungary over the international break.

Unlikely to start against Luton but could have a role from the bench - and if not on Saturday then certainly in the two upcoming games at home against Charlton and Wigan.

Korey Smith

The dynamic central midfielder has returned to being out on the grass and is now working his way back to full training and being involved in matches.

He said recently that he hoped to be playing again in December. Could be another huge boost for Bristol City when he returns.

Jay Dasilva

The flying full-back is still not expected back for a while as he recovers from a tibia fracture.

It could be that the ex-Chelsea man returns in December however, with a key scan set for November.

"He’s just working on the AlterG [running machine] and he’s got a scan on the 11 of November that will determine the speed of progression and at what point we can start pushing him. Really that’s due to how the bone and fracture have actually healed," .

Saikou Janneh

The young striker has returned to training but he wasn't involved in the game against Torquay in mid-week, as confirmed on Thursday by the head coach.

As we reported recently, the club has been in talks with the Gulls over a short-term loan that would see 'Saiks' move back to Plainmoor until being reassessed in January, but he is not quite fully fit just yet.

At least City do have new signing Rodri available for after the Hatters game (the club have said he won't play this coming weekend).

Meanwhile Hakeeb Adelakun, Marley Watkins and Sam Szmodics are fit to play.
