Bristol City's injury list ahead of playing Derby County: Bailey Wright out, Adam Nagy latest

Bristol City may have turned the corner on the injury front as they regroup following several big blows to the squad.

First there was the sad news that Jay Dasilva will likely be out until January 2020 at least - before some more on Bailey Wtright, with Lee Johnson revealing on Saturday that the Aussie is also out for some time.

Thankfully things look better elsewhere for Bristol City.

Here's a round-up of where things lie to the best of our knowledge currently.

Bailey Wright

The head coach explained following the match on Saturday that the club captain is looking at around 10 weeks out of action following a tear to his thigh muscle.

"I’m a little annoyed at myself for playing him on the Tuesday game but he wanted to play because he felt good and I think the Australian manager was there, but unfortunately in the last 15 minutes he made a channel run and his rec fem (Rectus femoris) which is the muscle in the thigh has got a grade two tear on it," explained Johnson at the weekend.

The injury has seen the Robins use the free transfer market and Ashley Williams is expected to join on a free transfer later this week.

Korey Smith

Key midfielder Smith recently had an operation with a metal plate removed from his foot to allow for the wound to heal properly.

However, Lee Johnson confirmed at the weekend that the Robins will still not see Smith in action until at least December, and possibly later thatn that. Several months of recovery still lie ahead, alas, for the all-action Robins linchpin.

Jay Dasilva

The big news from last week was that Dasilva's ankle injury was worse than first feared and the full-back was out for four to five months.

We may not see the former Chelsea man until the New Year either, given that prognosis.

A huge blow has been slightly softened by the form of Tommy Rowe, and the left wing-back will need to be carefully nursed until the return of the ex-Charlton defender.

Niki Maenpaa

Maenpaa is back in action and played for the City U23s on Monday against Wigan in the Professional Development League Two match held in the north west.

As reported previously, Bristol Live understands that players must play two matches before being involved again in senior matches, and Maenpaa may well be available for the weekend match away to Hull City.

Marley Watkins

Watkins is still making his way back to full fitness following a thigh injury, though was not fit enough to play against Wigan on Monday afternoon.

Adam Nagy

Adam Nagy (Robbie Stephenson/JMP)

The Hungarian midfielder suffered an ankle knock on Saturday, but Lee Johnson reported no swelling following Bristol City's win over QPR.

All being well, Nagy should be available for Tuesday night's game.

Saikou Janneh

The young striker is still recovering after an operation on his knee. Set to be out for four months, too.
