Bristol City's Farama Diedhiou in line to face Brazil after unexpected international call-up

Famara Diedhiou could line up against Brazil after a being included in Senegal's squad to face Brazil.

The Bristol City striker has not played for his country since March 2017, yet could well add to his six caps next week.

He has been included in Senegal coach Aliou Cisse's squad for the game, which takes place on Thursday, October 10 in Singapore.

Diedhiou is one of seven attackers named in the 23-man squad, along with Liverpool star Sadio Mane.

The 26-year-old has had a hit-and-miss season for the Robins so far, scoring twice in eight appearances.

Despite Benik Afobe's injury ruling the on-loan Stoke City striker out for the season, Diedhiou is yet to win back his place in the City starting Xi.

Sammie Szmodics was preferred to Diedhiou against Swansea City, whilst Antoine Semenyo got the nod in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Preston North End.

Diedhiou's call-up could cause some fears from Robins fans that he will miss one of their games, with Senegal also scheduled to face Guinea on October 18, one day before City's trip to Luton Town.

However, this will not be the case.

Whilst Senegal have named a full-strength squad for the game against Brazil, they will not be able to do this for the match against Guinea.

This is due to the fact that they face Guinea in the qualifying for the African Nations Championship, a tournament that is only open to players competing in their country's domestic league.
