The Championship is a bonkers league. We say it every season but England's second tier never fails to confound logic on a weekly basis.
Emphasised by last weekend, when four different teams stood atop the division from Friday through to Monday and when the dust had settled just six points seperate Bristol City in the final play-off place and Derby County down in 15th.
Equally, the Robins are only five points adrift of leaders West Brom, who have set the standard so far in the league and are arguably the only truly outstanding team so far.
City have the luxury or pressure of playing after 22 teams this weekend as they take on Cardiff in South Wales for the Severnside Derby on Sunday after the rest of the weekend's fixtures have been played.
By that stage, they could find themselves still in the top six or falling into mid-table, depends on what happens elsewhere in the country.
Work by @Possible_tables on Instagram, details the highest possible league place each Championship team can achieve this weekend and also where each side could end up in a worst case scenario.
As displayed below, City could, with a win in Cardiff and the right set of results elsewhere - defeats for West Brom at Hull, Leeds to Blackburn, Preston to Huddersfield and Swansea against Sheffield Wednesday as a start - move up to second but also with a defeat and wins for the teams around them plummet into 11th.
