Bristol City's Adam Webster included in another Championship 'team of the season' alongside Aston Villa, Leeds and Norwich stars

A Bristol City defender has been included in yet another unofficial team of the season, despite missing out on the EFL's main event.

Centre-back Adam Webster has been named in the back four of Quest's best XI of the 2018/19 season.

Quest is the Discovery-owned free-to-air TV channel that is home to official highlights of the Championship, League One, League Two, the Carabao Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy.

Webster's ball-playing ability and runs out from the back have thrilled Robins supporters this season, leading to tongue-in-cheek comparisons with some of the best defenders of years gone by.

Such is is ability on the ball, City boss Lee Johnson has decided to deploy him in midfield on recent occasions.

Remarkably, the summer signing has the won the most aerial duels and made more interceptions than any other central defender this season.

The TV channel have selected Webster alongside John Egan in central defence, with the pair flanked by Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis of Norwich City.

Elsewhere in the team, the Canaries' Teemu Pukki, Tammy Abraham of Aston Villa and Wigan's Chelsea loanee Reece James are also included.

Webster has been named Bristol City's Player of the Year and this is already the second 'team of the season' the 24-year-old has been picked in following his selection by stats website WhoScored.

The website's player ratings are based on each event recorded in the game calculated live automatically using algorithms, which comprise of more than 200 raw statistics.

WhoScored say that all events are valued based on a researched perception of the effect on the outcome of the match. Positive events are valued against negative events.

Affectionately known as 'Webdini' in a tongue in cheek knod to Milan great Paolo MALdini, Bristol City centre-back Webster has scored an average of 7.3 out of 10 this season - second only to Leeds United's Liam Cooper in defence.

Despite being named in the two unofficial best XIs of the season, Webster missed out on the Team of the Season proper with Leed's Liam Cooper and Reece James selected at centre-back by the EFL - as voted by club managers.
