Bristol City renew interest in QPR star after failing to land former Leeds United striker - report

Bristol City have reportedly renewed their interest in Burnley striker Nahki Wells.

The Robins were linked with a move for Wells in the summer, but he ended up moving on loan to QPR instead.

Now, The Telegraph's Mike McGrath says the Robins have turned their attentions to Wells after the failure to land Eddie Nketiah on loan from Arsenal.

Nketiah was the Robins' number one target this month following his recall from Leeds United but the Gunners opted to keep the striker at the Emirates - and his appearance off the bench in Saturday's draw with Sheffield United means he definitely cannot move again this month.

It means City have had to look elsewhere to strengthen their forward line, and Wells is reported to be one of their targets, along with Charlton Athletic star Lyle Taylor.

Wells has netted 13 goals in 26 Championship appearances for QPR this season but the Loftus Road outfit have struggled for consistency and find themselves in mid-table.

If City were to pursue a move for Wells, it would have to be on a permanent basis.

Wells' Burney contract expires in six months time, and the Sun report that Turf Moor club are only minded to recall him from his Loftus Road loan should they receive a transfer bid, rather than the offer of a loan, for the player.

The Clarets are interested in two Robins stars - Josh Brownhill and Niclas Eliasson - which could well factor into any negotiations the Robins have over Wells, although, as of yet, there has been no bid for either of them.

City's Championship rivals Wigan Athletic are also said to be interested in Wells.
